Takin' care of business

Today was a good day for meeting some time goals, and that's what we did today.

Nathan Young laughed in the face of the 5 minute goal, mocking it with a 4:59

Joe flew under 5:15 with a 5:12

Brandon smashed the 6 minute barrier with a 5:54

Mark destroyed his 2:30 goal with a 2:25.8.

Stuart tied his PR with a 2:41.8

Nick made a big improvement and was only about 2 seconds from his goal for the season, running a 5:22.

Nathan Smith had the roughest conditions of any of you, running the longest race, the 3200, in the worst conditions, when it was still sunny and hot early in the meet. He still ran well, running a 12:04.

We're getting stronger, and several people made some pretty big jumps in time today. The biggest improvement of the meet belonged to Joe Zeller, who cut over 25 seconds off of his previous best from this season for the 1600. Awesome job, Joe. Let's see how low you can go. The race is on between three or four of you for that third miler spot. Right now, Joe's in the lead, but Nick, Jordan, and Nathan Smith aren't far behind.

Remember, we're not practicing this Saturday, since only one or two people could be there. Instead, for those who are willing to come, we're going to have practice Sunday at 12:30 PM. Please make sure that word gets around to everyone, since we had a couple of people who didn't get the message last weekend.

For those who can't make it to the workout on Sunday, the workout is 400 repeats again. Nathan Y will be doing 10x400 in 72-74 with a 2:30 cycle. Nathan Smith, Joe, Jordan and Nick will be doing 8x400 in 78-80 with a 2:50 cycle. Mark and Stuart will be doing 6x400 in 72-75 with a 3 minute cycle (Mark) and 78-80 with a 3:20 cycle (Stuart).

In case you all forgot, I've got the following people running Friday at Pekin
3200 Nathan Young, Nick
800 Stuart, Mark
1600 Joe, Nathan Smith

Finally, for those that are wanting to run the road race this weekend, remember, the priority is being prepared for the track team and the workouts. If you can run the race and still get the rest you need to do our workouts this week and weekend, awesome. But don't neglect your rest to run extra races.

Remember to get the word around to everyone about practice this weekend, so we can avoid a repeat of last weekend.
